Hey and welcome to the NEWs!
Here you'll find every greater news concerning the Voices of Ilya project, majorly though everything concerning things around the story, like new chapters/books merchandise or whatnot. Story and Character issues will mostly be found in the "Story and Character Discussion" like it was before.

I'm liking these new threads you have and how you have you have this whole section laid out. I wish I could be able to do things better with my threads. I have some many things amongst characters and stories its hard to find the exact way to set things up.

Comics and Trailers!
I don't have that much work to do so I came up with another idea, this time a pretty good one. I've decided to promote my Voices of Ilya project a bit more by running ads for it.
The music of cause is one way that I'm still going for. The other thing that came to mind now would be a short comic (about 2 pages long). I already have an idea that might work so I have to concept and develop it a bit further and then go for the lineouts of the actual comic.
The other thing that originated out of this comic idea is a Trailer. I developed a short concept that might work. The best thing of it is, that the whole Trailer can be devided into four main pieces which makes it easier for me to plan, develope and of cause animate it. If it works the way I intend it to, it would resemble an Anime Intro promoting the entire first Arc of the Voices of Ilya Series. HOWEVER! Don't get too excited because, even after all this I can't promise I'll be able to realize any of this! I've tried animated sequences for a while but most of the time I failed or it was too much work for too few a result so I stopped. I wanted to give it another go since my last try lies back severeral years now and my skills have improved. But you might agree that there's no guarantee I will actually be able to create a working animation sequence...
So here's the deal: I'll work out further the idea of a comic since that's still the slightly easier option. And I will do my best to make the trailer happen as well. In any case, I'll keep you updated but since both comic and animation take a bit more time, please be patient. I'll go for it but I still have one commission to go and it might take a while until the first presentable results will be created.

Music is the Key!
On one of my very creative days, I suddenly had ideas for some songs. At first for two which resemble a bit the intro of a magical girl series. "We are JROCK" and "Skies of the Night"
Later on, as I developed the whole Voices of Ilya change I came across two songs more. "Children of the Moon" is a lullaby that will play a role within the story. It's a bit celtic.
I won't reveal too much about "My Love, My King". Just this: Nothing's as it seems!
The two first ones are as good as done. All they need is the final mix so I hope to be able to present them to you guys soon. The others might take a little longer because I still need the instrumental to be set and the singers don't have that much time to spare for the recording. Anyways I'm excited to get them finished someday!

Panels and Storyboarding
I just finished the panel line up for the comic with dialogue. It turned out to be 16 panels so I think 2 pages might work. Maybe I'll stretch it to three for more effect. In any case it should be viable. Not too many complicated pictures in there either.
So the major idea and set ups are done for both Trailer and Comic. I developed the trailer a bit more yesterday too so the ideas are all set now. I plan on going for the storyboard for the trailer and concept for the comic this weekend so I can see how it actually works out and how complicated the single pictures will be. I also have to work on the last commission but since storyboarding is only very rough sketching, it'll be okay.

The Comic storyboard so far works out really well. The question is, if you want to see the VERY unfinished Version the storyboard is, or if a sketchy LineArt Version wouldn't be better where the texts are already clean and readable. I think I'll upload the real storyboard later on. It might confuse you guys more than making a read enjoyable. Anyways the first step was made. Yey for that!

Trailer and Games
Yes, I'm already thinking about a game. I wanted to do one for a while and had some ideas about what. One concept is already finished but now that I could do a Voices of Ilya game, I'll push that one to first priority in the game list. This is no announcement for an actual game release! this is just an announcement, that I've come up with one idea that might work out nicely and is actually doable for me. Thanks a lot to Cole and Kevin for helping me out with the whole idea discussion issue! It really helped a lot!
About the trailer: I've found the perfect music so I can start timing the trailer which means I'll get a good idea of how long the whole thing will become and how big the overall work will be.

Just in addition to the previously mentioned "Trailer and Games":
I've had some time to spare at work so I worked some more on the actual game mechanics, the main story and a bit on the look and UI. So far I'm quite content with it but it's still just the beginning of things. I'll need to work on that a lot more, make some mockups and stuff. As soon as I get anything done in that direction, I'll let you know and share it with you in the Gallery.

Game Update Working Title: Voices of Ilya - Black Shards Platform: PC Genre: Adventure/ Light RPG Summary: A new adventure awaits the Paragons. Strange shadows move through the streets of a small town in northern England, ripping families apart and all who witness their presence. To solve the mystery, Jess, Hyona, Rhinoa, Kia and CC have to find the twelve legends and face ultimate darkness. Some new info on the currently planned game to my newest series. The working title is exactly what it sais: A working title. That means it might change, though this is the 5th title I came up with and the first one I feel might fit well to the game so maybe that will turn out the actual title... we'll see. The platform is for now PC only. I definately know that the engine I will most likely use is capable of PC games. For everything else I would have to check if it's supported by the engine plus it will be way more difficult to convert the game to other platforms. It's not like I just use the same game since the usage of different platforms work differently as well so I'd have to adjust the whole interface and mechanics etc to actually make the game suitable for other platforms. The Genre is something between adventure and RPG. So I called it Light RPG for now since I know some of you guys don't know what an adventure actually is. So as of now, the player will be able to explore certain locations, collect items and hints rather freely, as well as the whole quest-systems and stuff. There'll be a fighting system too but it will work very different from any games I've seen so far so that's kind of experimental. But I think it will fit nicely with the general game feel so we'll see how it'll work out in the first play-test. There'll be some nice features waiting! Summary: Well I didn't want to spoil too much yet so for now you'll have to work with this very short plot description. Opinions are very much appreciated, though I definately won't move on the platform things because, trust me I know far more about that than you probably do. I know it would be nice to have it for all kinds of platforms but for me as (in this case) sole game creator that's simply out of the question for now. I'll keep you updated on the matter as soon as I've started actually working on the game on the engine. If you have any questions, feel free to ask though I'll take the liberty to tell you "secret" if it concerns something I don't want to reveal just yet.

Long time no read!
Not that big of a new for now but I've been working on a creature design for Voices of Ilya. It's not just any creature roaming the worlds but this particular one will play quite an important role in the second half of the first book AND possibly in the game too. So I want to make it's design work out to it's cause.
I'll upload my first trials later on in the gallery.
Also I made a plan what and how I want to change the old chapters, Voices of Ilya relies on. That will make the editing a lot easier and faster. I can say this much: Anyone who's read the old chapters won't be bored with the new edited versions. There are quite some changes and additional scenes and matters coming in there.
So YES I'm still working on it but nice and slow.
Oh and you can check out some game interface sketches in the Gallery too.

CC Arlin - First Album
You might remember that I was working on a few different songs for the whole Voices of Ilya project. Well, I continued working on them and some others and now I finally have enough for a first mini Album of Rock Star CC Arlin!
Songs on the album:
- CC Arlin (NEW)
- Skies of the Night
- Tell me (NEW)
- A Good Life (NEW)
- We are JROCK
I already have the instrumentals for those and today and next week I'll have some time all to myself so I can finally get at least three of them mixed so they're finished. About the songs: They are very mixed. Partially pop, partially rock, something singer-songwriter-ish and some stuff inbetween. So feel excited! I might work on the CD cover sometime soon, too.

Jup! My current favorite one is "A Good Life" It'll be a lot of fun to record that CC Arlin is a cool song too, very pop song-ish but that's pretty nice since she's a famous star and all so I guess it's fitting. I could also get a little further with "Children of the moon" but for that and My Love, my king, I'll need a friend of mine, maybe both friends to sing it. Those two need the right feel and I still have to test which one of our voices matches the best. I think one of their's would work a lot better. So depending on how fast I can get them to some recording and get another good friend of mine to add the music box feel, since I only ha ve a piano, those two might be done soon as well. The most difficult ones are Skies of the night and We are JROCK because it's actually meant for more than one person to sing it. Might work with just my voice too tough, have to test that. Tell me isn't finished entirely. But Tell me would probably be the title music of the Trailer. TADA! Surprise!

On your site you have certain ones listed for just CC, but some that aren't. I'd assume that means those are her songs, but does it have something else to it? Like does it mean that each of those specific songs will just be song by one person while others could have more then one singer?

All CCArlin songs are mostly sung by one person, eventually with support by others, while the ones whithout a name will be sung by someone else but it's not certain who yet. I'm meeting some friends on Thursday to see if one of them would like to do the job

Finally some more infos: Over the weekend I finally sat down and continued my work on the first Voices of Ilya book. It went far better than anticipated! Now that I finally got back to it, I'll probably get a lot further with writing which is truly great! Can't wait to see the story evolve!
I also started simultaniously the works on "fables and truths" which is a big book similar to an art or world book. There you'll later find everything there is to know about Voices of Ila. About the characters, locations, the kind of magic, why I decided against certain things and how the idea developed to its final version and of cause much much more. Everything will later be acompanied by quotes and pictures to make it worth wile.
Hope you're as excited as I am!

Yeah I know! But I'm back int he game! I actually managed to get a lot done, plan a lot so I just have to write some stuff done, edited and wrote new story parts... so big progress there!
Today I didn't have much work to do (psst! Don't bust me!!) so... I ended up doing another song. If you know animes, you know that the intro song is often something fast paced to get people excited something like rock or pop or something inbetween. For that I already have three possible versions. Though one is more of a trailer song...not sure yet. But I ahve two songs definately that can be used well as an intro song. Now the outtro songs often are slower sometimes a bit darker or romantic, depending on the anime. I never even considered having that but today suddenly it hit me!!!
I just wrote a song about the Ilya! OoO And it's my favorite song ever! It's pretty dark and slow though. You know that creepy feeling a music box can make at times? It's a lot like that and the instrumental is just a music box with some beat and here and there some eery voices. It's perfect! So excited! I'm thinking about getting myself a good mikrofone for once. Up until now I've been amateurishly capturing my singing through a camera and stuff but the quality is pretty bad and I always have to make tons of editing until it sounds okay'ish. With a good mikrophone that wouldn't be needed anymore and I could concentrate on mixing the stuff more instead of having to work on removing any noises I don't want in there, making it louder and quieter at times etc.etc.!
And I have found a third singer. So theoretically I have 4 voices at hand now. Mine, the voices of two dear friends and the voice of an acquaintance from DA which just happens to have an amazing voice haha! I'll probably need all of them for this Ilya song to make it sound good.

'kay I just finished two Songs: "Skies of the night" - the theme song of Voices of Ilya; and "Mirror-world" the song about the Ilya. For now I only used my voice but I just send the stuff to the other singers so I can check which voice might fit best or maybe do some kind of collaboration. It's pretty funny, especially since the Skies of the night now has an acapella version which is funny to hear haha!
I might upload them sometime on my website.

TEASER I just started working on a possible Teaser. Now you might be wondering: Why a teaser if there's a trailer? The answer is: A teaser, at least in this case, is way easier for me to handle. Itt's going to be more like seperate pictures with some tiny animation like wavy hair or moving one hand etc. plus some camera motions while the trailer actually uses texts so their mouths would need to move and some entire body movements etc. So muuuuuch more work. Plus the teaser is a lot shorter. Hence a teaser not a trailer Well I already decided on the music (a piano piece I composed some time ago) and made a rough script. I'll get to a rough story board the next time I get some time off to work on Voices of Ilya i general.
